Small fire at Health Ministry

PUTRAJAYA: A small fire broke out at the Health Ministry at Parcel E Thursday morning, causing alarm to some 400 staff, who were just about to start work for the day.

The fire at a room on the 10th floor, which housed the ministry’s Training and Human Resources department, destroyed several furniture.

Putrajaya Fire and Rescue Department chief Johari Ahmad said they received a distress call at 7.52am and 18 firemen rushed to the scene in two fire engines.

“When we arrived at the scene, thick smoke covered the lobby and corridor of the 10th floor. We managed to control the fire at 8.35pm and about 20 minutes later, the fire was completely put out,” said Johari.
